The Anime Radicals’ Bcom, Yata, and Andrew sit down for an in-depth discussion of Naoko Yamada’s movie, Liz and the Blue Bird. This movie is a side-story in the Hibike! Euphonium universe focusing on the relationship between band members Nozomi and Mizore. We start off by discussing our thoughts on the movie through the lens of our experience (or lack thereof) with the original show. We then move on to talk about the animation and art style before we move on to rave about the incredible soundtrack. Afterwards, we move onto a spoiler-filled discussion of our favorite characters, both old and new, as well as Yata’s surprising experience with receiving hard-boiled eggs from his students. We finish up with our complex thoughts on the climax of the movie, and a number of different ways it could be interpreted.
Recorded February 3, 2019.
